Our Story

Proven entrepreneur Samuel Hwang is the force behind teraArk’s education sector expertise

  • Samuel has spent 11 years successfully innovating in the education sector, particularly by making macro bets on emerging markets (China, SEA).

In 2009, Samuel founded New Pathway Education, a Shanghai-based edtech company applying an online adaptive learning platform to offline test prep and outbound counseling businesses.

CVC Capital acquired New Pathway in 2014 and merged it with EIC Education, where Samuel became CTO. The combined business had 50 offline centers in 29 cities in China.

After selling EIC Education to Chinese private equity firm NLD, Samuel began searching for ways to bet on emerging markets & the education sector at scale.

The answer: teraArk, founded in 2018 with the aim of becoming the world’s leading company builder in the education sector.
